The Transportation Advocacy Group - Houston Region (TAG) is a coalition of businesses, nonprofits, and government entities united to address the transportation infrastructure needs of the rapidly growing Houston region. With a population projected to increase from nearly 6 million to over 8.5 million by 2035, the region's current infrastructure is struggling to meet expanding demands. TAG works to advocate for sustainable and adequate funding solutions to support the transportation ecosystem. The organization is dedicated to fostering regional cooperation and ensuring mobility for all residents.
Position Overview
TAG seeks a full-time Event and Operations Manager to support the organization’s core administrative functions, marketing and communications, membership services, and oversee all event logistics. This role ensures TAG runs smoothly and is effectively positioned to engage members, stakeholders, and the broader public through strategic marketing and streamlined operations.
This position will report to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with TAG’s board, committees, and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
Office & Organizational Administration
- Manage daily operations, shared calendars, workflows, and internal systems
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries
- Maintain organized digital files, templates, and branded assets
- Track and document key organizational processes and financial transactions
- Manage annual inventory of TAG’s digital and physical assets
- Collaborate with staff to document and track agency-wide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Support improvements to administrative and communication systems
Board & Committee Support
- Schedule and coordinate board and committee meetings
- Prepare agendas, materials, and meeting minutes
- Maintain up-to-date governance documents (e.g., minutes, rosters)
- Serve as a liaison between TAG leadership, board members, and committees
Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate with TAG’s external marketing firm to develop and manage the organization’s communication calendar
- Review and support social media content creation and community engagement efforts in partnership with the marketing firm
- Ensure timely updates to TAG’s website by working with the marketing firm and internal staff
Membership Support
- Maintain membership database and records (e.g., GrowthZone)
- Support member engagement campaigns and communications
- Support renewals, onboarding, and recognition of members
- Ensure consistent branding and professionalism in all member touchpoints
Events Management
- Plan, organize, and execute in-person, virtual, and hybrid TAG events including panel discussions, policy forums, networking receptions, and board gatherings
- Manage and oversee all vendor contracts related to event execution.
- Oversee logistics including venue coordination, vendor management, and materials preparation
- Create timelines, budgets, task lists, and reusable templates (e.g., invites, agendas, checklists)
- Manage registration for sponsors, board members, and elected officials
- Support event promotion through TAG’s newsletter, email campaigns, and social media
- Coordinate and support event volunteers; serve as point of contact for staff, vendors, and volunteers during events
- Collect post-event feedback, create summary reports, and recommend future improvements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, nonprofit management, communications, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in operations, events, membership, or marketing in a nonprofit or membership-based organization
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., GrowthZone), Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience leading membership or marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with infrastructure advocacy, transportation policy, or government relations
- Graphic design and email marketing skills (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp)
- Experience tracking performance metrics and generating reports
- Comfort working with external vendors and consultants
