Manager, Digital Content Specialist
As two non-profit organizations founded in 1966 and 1989, our staff works to fulfill a mission to enhance the quality of life and economic success of Greater Kansas City by taking the lead in maintaining and selectively acquiring a diversity of amateur and professional sporting events; to collaborate with area economic development and agencies to attract and retain amateur and professional sports organizations; and to promote the lifetime benefits of sports for the citizens of Greater Kansas City.
Whether we are hosting NCAA or Big 12 championships, producing local endurance events such as the Garmin Kansas City Marathon, executing WIN for KC events, planning award celebrations, or managing activation around major global events – we strive to make Kansas City better through sports.
Overview
We are looking to hire a Manager, Digital Content Specialist to support all marketing, communications and digital media presence for the organization. This position serves as the voice and digital presence of the brand across multiple platforms.
Job Duties
Social Media Strategy, Management and Execution:
- Develop and execute social media strategies for four brands across Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Create and manage social media content, including copywriting, reels, content curation, and basic graphic design.
- Develop an influencer strategy and program to develop, own, and maintain for the various brands.
- Facilitate responses to social media messages and comments.
- Actively review key performance indicators (KPIs) and modify strategy and/or tactics as needed.
Email Strategy and Management:
- Craft compelling, engaging emails to market Sports Commission and WIN for KC events, generating registrations and awareness.
- Develop high quality content for sponsor emails to drive engagement and awareness for key sponsors.
- Create an email newsletter strategy for different stakeholder groups.
- Regularly audit and update email lists, segments, tags, and overall performance.
Website Marketing:
- Help create copy for website pages in conjunction with events team.
- Make updates or changes – related to the look and feel – as needed to ensure a positive experience for website visitors.
General Communication and Content Creation Support:
- Assist with general communication needs as requested.
- Assist with photography and videography needs as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- Proven experience in digital content creation, content management, social media strategy, and email marketing.
- Proficiency in Squarespace or similar website management platforms.
- Proficiency in Mailchimp or similar email management platforms.
- Proficiency in Adobe and/or Canva or other similar content creation platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- At least 2 years of experience in social media marketing, email marketing, and/or website management.
- Familiarity with sports and event marketing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Photography and/or videography experience
- Photo and/or video editing experience
