Function:
You will work as part of the operations team to ensure you create a rich consumer experience, build guest loyalty and reflect the brand while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
You earn your income by maintaining a positive and productive work environment, creating efficiencies to the bar operations and ensuring everyone leaves with a positive impression of Garth’s Brew Bar.
Along with the other team members and the bar manager, you will contribute to building a business that is well known for excellent customer service, quality beer selection and beer education.

Organizational Position & Internal Collaboration:
You report to the bar manager with whom you negotiate your income and coordinate & prioritize daily assignments and any 1-1 meetings as-needed.
You will also work closely with other beertenders who are responsible for carrying out similar tasks and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
All beertenders of Garth’s are expected to positively contribute to the culture of continuous improvement through intentional focus on the following objectives:
• Create a positive customer experience and maintain a high standard of guest engagement at all times including checking identification to verify age
• Maintain strong product knowledge regarding beers, merchandise and industry news
• Provide guests with stories about different beer styles and making tasting recommendations accordingly
• Maintain safe, organized and clean environment throughout the bar (bathrooms, guest space, cooler, bar, etc.)
• Propose ideas to garner more customer engagement and provide customer feedback to better the experience for future guests
• Update the customer and newsletter database
• Dependably support the bar manager with additional activities
• Take and fulfill beverage and food orders directly from guests and incorporate a hospitality-first behavior in your engagements
• Arrange bottles, glasses and bar to make attractive displays
Expected Results:
Short term, the expectation is that you will master all of the components of a beertender at Garth’s and establish on-going relationships with guests.
Long term, the expectation is that you contribute to the business’s marketing, training and sales process by increasing the rate of guest returns.
Ongoingly, the expectation is that you’ll proactively study and learn what it takes to become a lead beertender and eventually a bar manager.
Management Scope:
After every shift, you’ll provide a recap to the bar manager and Garth of how the night went and where there were areas of improvement or success. Any feedback related to the beer served is also expected to be shared.
In relation to your areas of responsibility, you will need to make the following decisions:
• When to no longer serve a guest or ask a guest to leave
• How to best make things right in an unexpected incident
• How to plan your time expenditure on different assignments
• How to surprise and delight guests
Hours in your role are anticipated to be on average 8-20 hours per week.
Required Experience:
Cicerone® Beer Server Certified (certification will be reimbursed if hired)
Operator’s License

Your internal training plan includes the following areas:
• Training in the use of the business’s POS system
• Access to industry books, magazines and online content
• A series of brewery tours to learn more about the stories behind the beer
• Reimbursement for the Cicerone Beer Server certification program and the Cicerone Certification (if not already achieved)
It will be your responsibility to proactively educate yourself on industry news by subscribing to newsletters, taking courses like the Micro Matic Draught System course and other tasting classes.
