Compensation: $50–$75/hour, ~4–6 hours/week ($800–$1,800/month depending on scope; during busy season (Nov/Dec) or if a special project arises, more hours may be needed)

About Urban Angels SFUrban Angels SF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives dignity and hope to children facing homelessness and poverty in San Francisco through holistic, year-round educational support.
We are a lean, impact-driven organization looking for a highly capable, self-directed marketing and communications professional to own and grow our digital presence, run our campaigns, and manage our communications (such as CRM, donor relations, direct mail).
This role will have a 3-month onboarding ramp-up under the tutelage of our current Marketing Director to help ensure a smooth transition.
About the RoleThis is a high-impact, part-time role ideal for someone who can both think strategically and execute independently. You’ll serve as the primary owner of Urban Angels’ marketing and communications—helping us grow awareness, engage donors and volunteers, and tell our story effectively.
You’ll work directly with the President (weekly one-hour Zoom meetings), as well as present updates at the monthly Board of Directors and advisors, with significant autonomy.
What You’ll DoMarketing & Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute marketing plans to grow awareness, donations, and volunteer engagement
- Identify target audiences and refine messaging based on insights
- Generate consistent inbound interest through digital channels
Content & Communications
- Own all external communications (social media, email, blog, website updates)
- Write and schedule social media posts across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Nextdoor, X, and Youtube
- Manage and grow the email newsletter (Mailchimp)
- Maintain and update website content (Squarespace)
- Produce an annual impact report highlighting organizational outcomes
Design & Brand
- Create graphics, videos, templates, and brand assets (social posts, infographics, media kits)
- Ensure visual and messaging consistency across channels
Systems & Operations
- Manage CRM (Neon One) for donors, volunteers, and campaigns (training available)
- Maintain organized digital systems (Google Workspace, files, passwords, assets)
- Track basic performance metrics and suggest improvements
Media & Partnerships (Nice to Have)
- Support press outreach and media opportunities
- Help identify partnerships or collaborations that expand reach
- Be the point person for marketing-related collaborations and marketing for our partnered events
You Might Be a Fit If You:- Have experience running end-to-end marketing or communications, especially in a startup or nonprofit environment
- Are both strategic and hands-on—you can plan and execute
- Are a strong writer with a clear, engaging voice
- Have solid design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar)
- Have experience with tools like Mailchimp, Squarespace, CRMs, and Google Workspace
- Are highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
- Care about community impact and local, grassroots work
Bonus Points- Experience with nonprofit marketing or fundraising
- Familiarity with Neon One or similar CRM platforms
- Basic analytics and reporting experience
- Experience managing media relations
