The Hillsborough-Orange County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a candidate for a remote position with variable hours that incorporates communications and sales. Job duties for the communications portion of the position include: design of the Chamber’s weekly email newsletter, graphic design of one “Member Spotlight” each week (using Canva), and publication of social media posts on Facebook and Instagram.
The position also includes commission-based sales to procure: 1) new business members for the organization; and 2) sponsorships for Chamber-organized events. The position is primarily remote and may include visits to potential-member businesses. Chamber members are mostly located in Hillsborough and northern Orange County, but there is no geographic limitation. The Chamber has members in Chapel Hill, Mebane, Durham, etc.
The position allows flexibility for when and how many hours are worked. Applicants should be self-starters who can develop new business contacts. This position reports directly to the CEO.
SALARY
The position pays $250 per month for completing the communications tasks outlined above. Compensation for commission membership and sponsorship sales is as follows:
1) 40% commission on new membership sales (any tier level);
2) additional 20% commission the following year on membership sales if the business renews their membership for a second year (no additional commission will be paid for renewals in year three, four, etc.);
3) 30% commission on new event and program sponsorships and sponsorship packages.
The Chamber offers five levels of annual membership with the following price points: $300; $600; $1,200; $3,600; and $6,000. Event sponsorships typically range from $200-$1,500. Events that the Chamber organizes include: the Hillsborough Holiday Parade, Annual Business Awards/Chamber Gala, monthly Central Carolina Women in Business events, Chamber Classic golf tournament, etc. The Sales Executive position does not currently offer benefits.
The position is well suited to those seeking mostly remote work and a flexible, part-time schedule.
