Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a French Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at a boarding school for girls in the Albany, NY area.
Boarding school positions may include on-campus housing and meals (room and board) depending on the role and school.
Note: This is a one-year leave replacement role with with the possibility of an extension based on school needs.

French Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach several French courses per semester at various proficiency levels for upper school students.
- Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
- Teach French language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
- Create opportunities for students to practice conversational French and improve pronunciation.
- Organizing fun events where students can showcase their French language skills.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
- Assist with residential life duties as needed, fostering a safe and supportive living environment for students.
- Assist with supervising extracurricular activities and/or coaching school athletic teams.
French Teacher Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
- Fluency in French required.
- No teaching license or credential is required.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
- Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
- Ability to teach multiple languages preferred.
