The Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE), a department within the Office of the Executive Vice President and University Provost, is seeking candidates for the role of
Marketing & Communications Manager, Inclusive Excellence.
The Marketing & Communications Manager will be a highly organized and collaborative marketing and communications professional with demonstrated experience managing multi-channel marketing operations and communications workflows in a complex organization, preferably within higher education. The ideal candidate will align with the ASU Charter commitment to inclusion, excellence, and impact, and will bring both creative thinking and operational rigor to advancing inclusive excellence efforts across the university.
This role is responsible for supporting OIE by managing marketing and communications operations across email, web, and social channels, ensuring initiatives, programs, and events are promoted accurately, consistently, and on schedule. The
Marketing & Communications Manager will create and optimize content, oversee campaign execution, maintain marketing infrastructure, and coordinate workflows across internal teams and partners to deliver timely and effective communications.
They will also serve as a connector to
Academic Enterprise Communications (AEC), ensuring that all communications developed by OIE are aligned with ASU Brand standards and AEC guidance.

What will the Marketing & Communications Manager do?
The Marketing & Communications Manager translates OIE priorities into organized, efficient, and impactful marketing and communications execution. This is a hands-on role that focuses on operational coordination, content delivery, and platform oversight, ensuring that communications efforts support institutional goals and reach intended audiences effectively.
Essential Duties
- Support the OIE team with marketing and communications execution for events, meetings, and initiatives across email, web, and social platforms.
- Act as the day- to day point of contact for OIE’s marketing and communications needs.
- Develop and manage centralized marketing workflows, calendars, and project timelines to ensure initiatives are promoted accurately, consistently, and on schedule.
- Create, edit, and optimize marketing content and creative assets (e.g., newsletters, event promotions, websites, flyers, slide decks, templates), ensuring alignment with OIE, Faculty & Staff Associations (FSAs), and ASU brand guidelines.
- Oversee development of marketing materials using relevant software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and ensure brand consistency for internal and external communications. Order and manage branded marketing materials.
- Create, update, and manage content for platforms such as digital signage (e.g. Poppulo), Canvas projects, and Eventbrite.
- Manage email campaign deployment, including list management, segmentation, scheduling, analytics tracking, and performance reporting to inform continuous improvement.
- Maintain and update the OIE website, partnering with the AEC web lead to ensure accessibility, usability, and brand consistency.
- Coordinate marketing and communications for signature OIE programs and newsletter, specifically the Celebrate - Inclusive Excellence Heritage Month Events and Celebrations newsletter/email, any training, workshops, and or additional initiatives.
- Manage relevant relationships with partners such as Faculty and Staff Associations (FSAs), as well as internal units such as Educational Outreach and Student Services, student support units, Academic Enterprise Communications, ASU Brand, and Strategic Communications to gather content, align messaging, and coordinate promotion schedules.
- Maintain and update digital platforms and systems, including Drupal (web content), Qualtrics (forms/data collection), LISTSERV management, Canvas projects, Eventbrite, and digital signage (e.g., Poppulo).
- Support photography and video needs for events and campaigns, including coordinating vendors, managing photo releases, and maintaining a digital asset library (e.g., Flickr).
- Order and manage branded promotional materials and develop branding templates, toolkits, and communications assets for OIE and FSAs.
- Serve as liaison between OIE and Academic Enterprise Services (AES) IT and Communications teams to coordinate technical support, on-site event needs, and documentation.
- Provide guidance, coordination, development, and oversight of student workers supporting marketing and communications tasks.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing marketing or communications operations in higher education or a large, complex organization.
- Experience with email marketing platforms, website CMS tools (WordPress), and form/data tools (Qualtrics).
- Demonstrated project management and workflow coordination experience.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility and inclusive marketing best practices.
- Experience coordinating student employees or support staff.
- Demonstrated alignment with the ASU Charter.
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions. Ability to travel to different sites to perform duties.
Organizational Structure
The Marketing & Communications Manager reports directly to the
Vice Provost of Inclusive Excellence and works closely with staff to advance the office’s strategic priorities through coordinated marketing and communications efforts.
The Marketing & Communications Manager also maintains a
dotted-line relationship with Academic Enterprise Communications (AEC) to ensure alignment with ASU Brand standards and broader academic and strategic communications priorities.
Through this relationship, the role collaborates with AEC writers, designers, web, and email teams as needed to support high-impact initiatives and maintain consistency across university communications.
