About the Team:
The Brand Narrative team’s mission is to develop and reinforce narratives that differentiate Atlassian and drive market understanding of our platform’s capabilities. We tell these narratives in creative ways that engage both internal and external audiences and amplify our brand's impact.
As part of this work, we’ve recently refreshed the Atlassian corporate blog, bringing together thought leadership, product storytelling, and company news into a cohesive editorial destination. This creates a powerful opportunity — and a meaningful operational need — to ensure alignment, coordination, and clarity across teams while enabling scalable content production that supports brand visibility and business growth.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a highly organized, systems-minded Content Operations & Strategy Lead contractor to support the Brand Narrative team during a six-month maternity leave coverage period (April–October 2026).
This role is ideal for someone with 5 years of experience in content strategy, content operations, or project management who thrives on turning complexity into clarity. You’ll serve as the connective tissue across Brand Narrative, Teamwork Lab, Product Marketing, and Communications — ensuring Atlassian’s blog and broader content initiatives run smoothly, strategically, and at scale.
Beyond strong operational instincts, we’re looking for someone energized by AI and motivated to operationalize it — not just experiment with it. You’ll identify opportunities to embed AI into repeatable workflows, reduce friction, and increase team capacity in meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, document, and continuously refine scalable content workflows across Brand Narrative, Teamwork Lab, Product Marketing (PMM), and Communications — including clearly mapping how major product announcements, company news, and thought leadership are surfaced and featured on the home page.
- Establish and operationalize a structured intake process for blog content, homepage updates, and promotional placements (e.g., homepage banners, featured stories), ensuring timely updates aligned to business priorities and launch moments.
- Build a proactive system with Product Marketing and Communications to ensure visibility into upcoming launches, announcements, and campaigns — including regular syncs or shared planning documentation to prevent last-minute content requests.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation — including playbooks, workflow maps, publishing standards, homepage update processes, and content reuse frameworks — to ensure continuity and reduce reliance on tribal knowledge.
- Identify, pilot, and scale practical AI use cases that reduce manual work and improve team efficiency. Document and enable adoption across the team.
- Contribute to the operational execution of thought leadership initiatives by coordinating SME timelines, draft reviews, approvals, publishing schedules, and cross-channel promotion alignment.
What Success Looks Like:
- The blog homepage is consistently up to date and reflects Atlassian’s most important thinking and announcements.
- The blog newsletter is delivered on a biweekly cadence, featuring a sharp point of view that speaks to what the market is focused on and positions Atlassian as a leader in AI.
- Cross-functional teams (Brand Narrative, Product Marketing, Communications) have a shared view of upcoming content through structured communication channels and documented planning processes.
- At least 2–3 AI-enabled workflow improvements are implemented and adopted (e.g., tier recommendation agent, content draft generator, etc.), resulting in measurable time savings or reduced manual effort.
- Editorial playbooks, workflow maps, and publishing standards are clearly documented, enabling continuity and operational stability beyond the contract period.
- Writers and strategists report improved clarity around timelines, approvals, and ownership — allowing them to focus more time on high-impact content development.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 10 years of experience in content operations, content strategy, marketing operations, or project management — ideally within a tech or SaaS environment is preferred. However, willing to entertain candidates with less if needed.
- Experience planning and executing marketing initiatives across multiple channels (digital, social, email, events), with an understanding of how content supports broader business objectives.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional stakeholders in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build structure from ambiguity and design systems that scale.
- Experience defining or managing governance frameworks, approval processes, and cross-team collaboration models.
- Experience working within a content management system (CMS) and understanding publishing workflows, metadata, and tagging frameworks.
- Proven change management and stakeholder engagement skills; comfortable driving adoption of new processes across distributed or global teams.
- Comfort identifying, piloting, and scaling AI or automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and team productivity.
- Data-informed mindset; comfortable partnering with analysts to evaluate performance metrics and improve operational health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize information and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field is preferred.
