The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is seeking a Program Manager, Physician Communications to join its Communications team. This role leads and supports strategic communications initiatives across key areas, including communications to ABIM Board Certified physicians and governance, editorial platforms, external relations, and executive communications.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications and Brand Management, the Program Manager, Physician Communications, will have the following primary responsibilities:
- Lead strategic, multi-channel communications campaigns aligned with organizational priorities, including planning, execution, and performance tracking
- Write and edit clear, compelling content across platforms, leveraging audience insights and collaborating with Marketing/PR on social and creative assets
- Provide editorial support for physician audiences, as well as ABIM Governance, ABIM volunteer task forces and committees, external stakeholders, and executive communications
- Serve as Editor-in-Chief of the News and Notes newsletter, overseeing content, strategy, production, and contributors
- Manage the ABIM Blog, including editorial calendar, content development, and guest contributors
- Partner with web and engagement teams to optimize digital content, and leverage surveys/polls to inform communications strategy
- Support senior executive communications, including speechwriting and identifying thought leadership opportunities
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional background, with a minimum of three to five years of communications/relationship management experience; non-profit or health care communications experience is a plus. Demonstrated proofreading/copyediting and project management skills are preferred. Must possess demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
To succeed in this role, one must have excellent attention to detail, organizational and planning skills, and be able to both assimilate and apply rapidly evolving information to ongoing work. You must also have a demonstrated ability to write and edit content across a variety of communications and the ability to work independently, as well as effectively function in a cross-departmental team environment.
This role is based in our offices at 510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, with the ability to work remotely three days a week. Our technology and facility teams provide and support a seamless hybrid work environment for all employees.
