Position Summary
Bestwork Industries for the Blind is seeking a passionate and energetic Special Events & Social Media Specialist to join our team. This dual-focus role is perfect for a creative storyteller and an organized planner who wants their work to have a meaningful purpose. You will be responsible for showcasing the incredible work we do through compelling digital content and for helping to execute key fundraising and employee appreciation events. Key Responsibilities
Special Events
- Fundraising Event - Dining in the Dark: Play a key role in the planning and execution of our signature fundraising gala. Responsibilities will include:
- Securing corporate sponsorships to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
- Soliciting donations for and organizing our silent auction.
- Assisting with ticket sales promotion and outreach efforts.
- Internal Events: Take the lead on planning and executing our internal employee events, designed to foster morale and appreciation. This includes our annual Summer BBQ (Employee Appreciation Day) and the Holiday Party.
Social Media/Marketing & Communications
- Social Media Management: Lead our social media presence, creating and curating engaging content that tells the story of our mission, our employees, and our impact. Explore and recommend expansion onto other relevant platforms.
- Content Creation: As a content creator and storyteller, capture the spirit of Bestwork through writing, photography, and videography to be used across all our communication channels.
- E-Newsletter: Assist with our e-newsletter (distributed via Constant Contact) by providing compelling content, design components, and fresh ideas to keep our community informed and engaged.
- Website Content: Help update our website with fresh content, news, and employee spotlights to ensure it remains a vibrant and accurate resource.
- Community Engagement: Attend community, networking, and third-party events as a representative of Bestwork as needed.
And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
- A deep and genuine passion for the mission of Bestwork Industries for the Blind.
- 3 years of experience in event planning / fundraising preferred
- A strong interest in, experience with, and understanding of social media, particularly Facebook and LinkedIn for brand-building.
- A proactive, "go-getter" attitude with the ability to take initiative and see projects through to completion with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A natural "people person" with excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with everyone from employees to corporate executives.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills are a must.
- Basic photography and videography skills, or a strong willingness to learn and develop in this area.
- Experience with Constant Contact or other email marketing platforms is a plus.
