Job Summary
The Digital Communications Specialist tells the Opportunity Partner story, creating authentic ways for constituents to see, experience, celebrate, and engage with our mission, impact and brand. They create and execute marketing communications, development, and engagement strategies as an important member of the Communication & Advancement team.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will work in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. You will work from home on Wednesday and Friday.
- Wage: $22.00 to $24.00 hourly rate based upon years of experience
As Part Of Our Team, You Will
Storytelling and Content Creation
- Collaborates with the communications manager by contributing as a story collector, interviewer, writer and proofreader for newsletters, award nominations, and other internal and external marketing and communications tactics.
- Gathers news items and stories creating and distributing a monthly Staff Update e-newsletter that informs, engages, and uplifts OP employees.
- Serves as a cross-functional communications partner, visiting OP sites and collaborating with teams across the organization to identify storytelling opportunities, support strategic initiatives, and advance Opportunity Partners' mission.
- Captures, edits, and archives basic photography and video content for social media and traditional communications efforts.
Digital Community Building, Social Media Strategy and Execution
- Stays curious, creative, and connected to emerging social media trends, digital storytelling strategies, and evolving platforms to grow authentic engagement and build meaningful online community around the Opportunity Partners mission.
- Develops and executes social media strategies to promote the organization's expertise and legacy in the disability sector, enhancing brand visibility, increasing awareness, engaging online audiences, and supporting the organization’s strategic plan and advancement plan. Creates two-way engagement through digital community building and human-centered design.
- Tells the Opportunity Partners story by managing the organization’s social media presence including planning, curating, creating, and scheduling content.
- Supports thought leadership by engaging executive team and board members in social media, creates and executes editorial calendar for leadership content.
- Works in partnership with the communications manager to track engagement insights and content performance, using data to better understand audiences, strengthen storytelling, and deepen connection across digital channels.
- Stays abreast of disability sector issues with an advocacy lens and ability to communicate with person-first language.
Website Maintenance
- Maintains OP’s website, updating content, including stories, text, images, and downloadable files, to ensure information is compelling, accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational messaging and branding.
- Create and publish new web pages using approved templates and design standards, ensuring accessibility and mobile responsiveness.
- Collaborate with internal teams to curate content, photos, and updates that support programs, events, and organizational goals.
What will you bring to Opportunity Partners?
- Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, public relations, communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in digital marketing, communications, social media, or related field.
- Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn is required.
- Experience with Canva or similar design platform such as InDesign, Photoshop is a plus.
- Experience with platforms such as Bloomerang (CRM/email marketing), Memory Fox is preferred.
- WordPress, and Hootsuite desired. Experience and/or interest in effective use of AI is preferred.
- A self-starter with initiative, curiosity, the desire to learn, not afraid to try new things
- Enjoys working both collaboratively and independently as a valued team member
- Strong time management and organizational skills
