About CAIR-Georgia
CAIR-Georgia is the Georgia chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest civil liberties and advocacy group serving the Muslim community. Our mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil liberties, and empower Muslims in America to advocate for themselves. From restrictions placed on Muslims to practice their religion, to profiling and discrimination stemming from a lack of understanding of Islam, the need for CAIR in Georgia is great. The proof is reflected in the dramatic increase in civil rights cases. CAIR-Georgia strives to ensure that Muslims in Georgia enjoy the same protections that all Americans have.
The Opportunity
CAIR-Georgia is hiring one communications professional to lead our external presence, storytelling, and day-to-day content operations. Depending on experience, applicants will be assessed for the Communications Director role or the Communications Manager role. The communications lead will serve as the primary owner of CAIR-Georgia’s communications function across social media, email, press, and events.
The Communications Director sets strategy, owns external relationships, leads the editorial direction, and is accountable for organizational communications outcomes. The Communications Manager executes with excellence: running the channels, managing the calendar, and delivering content that is on-brand and on-time. Both roles report directly to the Executive Director and supervise a Communications Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Content
Own and maintain a 12-month editorial calendar with monthly themes, campaign milestones, and content goals. Ensure a consistent, on-brand voice across all CAIR-Georgia external communications: social, email, press, and digital. Supervise the Communications Coordinator: assign work, review output, and maintain content quality. Translate CAIR-Georgia’s programs, services, wins, and calls to action into community-facing messaging.
The Director will set editorial strategy and be accountable for organizational communications outcomes; the Manager will execute the approved calendar with speed and consistency.
Social Media & Digital Channels
Manage content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X, minimum 5 posts per week across channels with no coverage gaps. Monitor engagement and respond to comments and DMs in accordance with CAIR-Georgia messaging guidelines. Maintain website content, Linktree, and active campaign landing pages for accuracy. Track and report on analytics weekly.
Email & Newsletters
Produce the monthly email newsletter in MailChimp on schedule, on brand, and targeted at a 35%+ open rate. Support Development team fundraising emails and donor-facing communications as needed. The Director approves all external sends; the Manager drafts and builds with oversight from Executive Director.
Media Relations
Maintain the CAIR-Georgia media contact list and Online News Features tracker. Draft and publish press releases and media advisories in accordance with CAIR guidelines.
Campaigns & Events
Execute communications for major campaigns in collaboration with other teams and departments: Seasonal fundraising, legislative session outreach, community events such as Muslim Advocacy Day, KYRs and MYTI, and CAIR-Georgia’s annual fundraiser. Collaborate with Legal, Policy, Outreach, and Development teams to ensure communications supports and uplifts their work. Lead communications planning and own timelines.
Design & Asset Management
Create and adapt graphics and digital assets following CAIR brand standards. Maintain an organized, accessible asset library. Coordinate with external vendors such as photographers as videographers as needed.
