About VHPIThe Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute (VHPI) is a nonpartisan research and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and protecting the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system. Through research, policy analysis, public education, and coalition building, VHPI works to ensure that veterans receive the high-quality care they have earned through their service.
Position SummaryVHPI is seeking a part-time Digital Communications & Social Media Coordinator to help expand our reach, grow our audience, and elevate veterans' healthcare issues in the public conversation.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing social media platforms, creating digital content, and translating complex policy issues into compelling, accessible communications. A strong interest in veterans' healthcare, public policy, healthcare systems, or advocacy work is highly desirable.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with VHPI leadership, researchers, and communications partners.
Responsibilities- Manage VHPI's social media presence across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X, YouTube, and Substack.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns.
- Create graphics, short-form videos, social media posts, and other digital content.
- Promote VHPI reports, webinars, media appearances, events, and publications.
- Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to increase engagement and visibility.
- Draft and schedule content using social media management tools.
- Track analytics and provide monthly reports on audience growth, engagement, and performance.
- Assist with email communications, newsletter promotion, and digital outreach as needed.
- Coordinate with coalition partners and allied organizations to amplify shared messaging.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, campaign, nonprofit, advocacy group, or business.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Canva or similar graphic design tools.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, veterans' issues, public policy, advocacy, political campaigns, or nonprofit communications.
- Familiarity with the Department of Veterans Affairs and veterans' healthcare issues.
- Experience creating short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.
- Military, veteran, military family, healthcare, or advocacy background.
CompensationCompensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
