Spiritcare Ministry to Seniors serves the spiritual and emotional needs of older adults in care communities by providing worship services, occasional activities and seasonal gifts. The faith-based nonprofit operates in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. Chaplains and volunteer musicians visit skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and independent living venues. Residents and care staff look forward to SpiritCare's services as they create a sense of community among those who can no longer go out to the places they once loved.
Role Description
This is a volunteer role for a Board Member at Spiritcare Ministry To Seniors. The Board Member will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing organizational activities, and ensuring the organization meets its mission and goals. Responsibilities include attending board meetings, participating in committees, fundraising, and advocacy. Our board meetings are monthly on the 3rd Saturday of the month on Zoom. Our typical term is three years.
We are particularly interested in new board members who can contribute skills and build volunteer teams in the following areas:
- Salesforce administration, programming and data entry
- Journalism - online newsletter article writing about SpiritCare events, as well as editing and publishing our newsletter on Mailchimp
- Pro bono legal adviser - you will be a lawyer qualified to operate in California, or recently retired, with experience in California and faith-based nonprofit law
- Pro bono recruiter - for finding new volunteers and board members
- Hands-on graphic and writing expert with marketing background - who can manage our brand assets, website and marketing collateral

- Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
- Must attend monthly board meetings and participate in committee work
