Our Organization: The Council Capital
- The Council Capital is a venture capital firm that backs pre-seed First Builders transforming our most essential industries like manufacturing and healthcare, and the critical functions that support them.
- We have created a First Builders ecosystem, starting with the investment team’s backgrounds, The Council Angels - a community of operators that learn to angel invest and share high quality deal flow, and our First Builders podcast, designed to inspire high slope operators to take that founding step.
- You will report directly to General Partner Amber Illig.
- This role will be between 10-20 hours per week (compensation at $30-$45/hour depending on experience)
- Location: Bay Area preferred
This Job: What You Will Do
You will report directly to General Partner Amber Illig and be responsible for editing and publishing our First Builders podcast, creating social clips from the podcast, and managing The Council’s social media across Linked In, X, Instagram, and TikTok.
- The core of the job:
- Own editing and publishing of our bi-weekly First Builders podcast
- Edit from Riverside, include transitions and music, and publish across our streaming services on Apple, Spotify, and Youtube, and post on our website
- Ensure captions and branding are accurate and consistent
- Create 5-7 of mic-drop moments from the podcast for socials
- Create social assets including LinkedIn and Instagram carousel and guest headshot for podcast covers
- Run The Council’s social channels to grow aligned reach and following.
- Draft content for Linked In, X, Instagram, and Tiktok
- Identify opportunities for original content in collaboration with investment team
- Manage overall social calendar to ensure diverse posts across events, The Council Angels, portfolio companies, and internal team insights
- Own management and reporting of social KPIs

- You have 1+ years with managing brand social accounts
- You have created a strong social media distribution for yourself or a company in the start up ecosystem
- You have a pulse on the startup and VC space
- You know how to grow marketing channels.
- You have strong written skills and comfortably operate within brand guidelines.
- You actively work to have an authentic and engaging voice vs AI slop in your content.
- You are obsessed with organization & can keep track of your tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail
- You love social media, podcasts, and the opportunity to build a large distribution
- You are always looking for ways to automate so that you can spend the most time on creative tasks while ensuring high quality
