About Youth Eastside Services
Youth Eastside Services (YES) is a leading provider of behavioral health services for children, youth, young adults, and families across East King County. Through school-based, clinic-based, and community-based programs, we provide mental health counseling, substance use treatment, psychiatric services, prevention education, and family support.
At YES, we believe young people thrive when they have access to the care, connection, and support they need in the places and communities where they live, learn, and grow. Each year, we serve more than 4,000 children, youth, and families, partnering with schools, caregivers, and community organizations to promote well-being and resilience.
Our work is grounded in trauma-informed care, collaboration, equity, and the belief that every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, respected, and connected. Our mission is to help youth reach their full potential, strengthen families, and build a healthier, more equitable community through behavioral health services, intervention, outreach, education, and advocacy.

The Opportunity
Every day across the Eastside, there’s a story worth telling. A therapist is helping a student through a difficult moment at school. A young person is finding their footing. A parent is discovering support they didn’t know existed. A donor or community partner is making it possible for YES to reach someone who needs us.
Our Marketing & Communications team finds those stories, brings them to life, and puts them to work. We help move people toward action, whether that’s finding support, joining a program, attending an event, partnering with YES, or making a gift.
We're looking for a
Marketing & Communications Coordinator who wants to help us do it.
You'll write, design, shoot, edit, interview, market, problem-solve, and build relationships across YES.
This is a role for a communications generalist who wants to become a great storyteller, and for a storyteller who wants to learn every tool available for reaching people.
You don't need to be an expert in every medium we use. But you should already be very good at some of them, curious about people, eager to get better at the others, and excited by the opportunity to learn.
What You’ll Do
Storytelling & Content Development
- Build relationships across YES and develop a strong working knowledge of our programs, services, community impact, and key youth behavioral health issues in order to communicate about our work accurately and confidently.
- Identify and develop stories about the young people, families, clinicians, donors, partners, and communities connected to our work.
- Conduct interviews and create engaging content for email, web, social media, fundraising campaigns, newsletters, annual reports, and other communications channels.
- Draft, edit, and proofread communications materials while ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and messaging.
- Approach storytelling with sensitivity, sound judgment, and respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Creative Content Production
- Create graphics, flyers, presentations, social media assets, email content, reports, and other communication materials.
- Capture photography and video at YES programs, events, and community activities.
- Assist with multimedia content creation and editing for digital and fundraising initiatives.
- Adapt content and creative assets for multiple audiences and platforms while maintaining brand standards.
Fundraising, Events & Community Engagement
- Partner closely with the Development team to support fundraising campaigns, donor communications, stewardship efforts, and special events.
- Develop compelling impact stories, campaign content, event materials, and donor-centered communications.
- Support event promotion, registration communications, and post-event stewardship efforts.
- Provide occasional communications support at priority community events and outreach opportunities, including representing YES, sharing information about our services, and supporting presentations as needed.
- Help ensure communications activities support organizational goals and audience engagement.
- Support fundraising campaigns by tracking communications performance and audience engagement related to donor outreach and appeals.
- Collaborate with Development and Marketing leadership to evaluate campaign outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Marketing Operations & Team Support
- Serve as a front-line Marketing & Communications resource, responding to content requests, public inquiries, and emerging communications needs and coordinating appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain marketing calendars, project timelines, digital asset libraries, and campaign records.
- Support workflow improvements and use AI and emerging tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Help establish and monitor benchmarks related to digital engagement and campaign performance.
What You’ll Bring
You should bring real strengths to this role — and curiosity and ambition about developing the rest.
Required Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Two to four years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, nonprofit communications, content creation, or related field.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across an organization.
- Strong visual instincts and demonstrated ability to create polished, engaging communications materials.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more areas such as graphic design, photography, videography, social media, email marketing, website management, fundraising communications, or content development is a plus. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, email marketing platforms, content management systems, social scheduling tools, and AI tools is also helpful.
Experience in behavioral health, human services, education, healthcare, nonprofits, or other mission-driven organizations is helpful but not required. More important is a genuine interest in YES's mission and a desire to learn about youth behavioral health and the communities we serve.
